Losing or getting your Social Security card stolen is not a pleasant experience. However, if you have lost your social security card, it is possible to replace it. There is not charge to get a replacement social security card, also referred to as a SSN card. You can also do the entire process online, without going to a SSA office. However, you do need to meet extra requirements, which were listed above in this article. You can request a replacement social security card online only if you are a U.S. citizen over 18 years of age, and have a U.S. mailing address. You must also have a driver’s license or a state-issued identification card from a few states. As long as you meet these requirements you can set up an account on the SSA official site and request your new card.
